Field of Butterflies by Lee Teter

$495.00

This 18th century Native American, surrounded by butterflies, reaches out with body and soul to the God of another tribal people. Circumstances allowed many Native Americans to contemplate their world and their beliefs in a way that few modern Americans can. Like all Christians before them, they would be like the worm that ceased be the same after it wrapped itself in a cocoon. They would become like the butterflies; made up of the same physical material and yet new and wonderful creatures. These Christian Indians dtruly believed. Many passed the test that proves this; they stood and died singing hymns while being unjustly murdered. Others lived their lives and died old men and women with years dedicated to their new peaceful king, Jesus. They continued to hunt and plant. They lived in dthe forest, from the forest. They celebrated the seasons and birth...and they died. The man who told the story was right. The world had not changed bu this man had. He knew it was so, because otherwise he wouldn't be kneeling down praying to the God that made the worms...and the butterflies. EDITION SIZE 75, IMAGE SIZE: 16" X 16" GICLEE ON ARCHIVAL
