An egret, surrounded by heart-shaped leaves and leafless vines, catches a breeze. Created from a damaged tree on our farm, this lathe-turned, Maple vase was inspired by one of our favorite sightings on our Old Mill Pond. Pyrography [writing with fire] details the sculpted elements, and sand-blasting "textures" the bark branches, lending Realism to the design. The egret is bleached white; while the surrounding features remain "natural", allowing them to mature into a lovely golden wood tone. Standing 11.5" high, 7.25" wide and weighing 23 oz., this elegant vessel from our series, "Kodak Moments", is a refined work and exemplifies the movement into the fine arts arena of Contemporary Woodturning.
